Buhari inaugurates committee to tackle out-of-school children menace

President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated an18-member Presidential Steering Committee on Alternate School Programme (ASP) to address the issue of out-of-school children in the country.
Inaugurating the ASP at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, Mr Buhari announced the committee would be co-chaired by the Ministers of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and Education.
The president directed the ministries to coordinate and lead the deployment of a National Plan to address the menace of out-of-school children.

The Federal government has released the sum of 93.47m naira for distribution to households in Abia State through the Abia State Cash Transfer Unit of the Social Investment Programm (SIP).
Mr Godwin Okeagu of the SIP office in Umuahia who disclosed this in a statement said arrangement has been concluded for the kick off of the payment to the benefitting households.
