FEC approves N809.7 billion for Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, others The Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, hitherto undergoing renovation, would now be completely reconstructed. 3 min read The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved over N809.7 billion for various projects, including the rehabilitation of the Abuja-Kano expressway. The meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday also approved the procurement of fire fighting vehicles and equipment as well as the development of an application for design, development and management of National Social Investment Management System for the National Social Investment Programme. Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, said Council approved the change of scope for the construction of Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway.

FG okays Abuja-Kano road reconstruction, jacks up cost by N642.2bn The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved the complete reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway. With the approval, the government changed the scope of work on the highway from the ongoing renovation to complete reconstruction. It therefore increased the project cost from N155bn, earlier approved for renovation, to N797.2bn reconstruction cost. The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the end of the weekly meeting of the council presided over by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

FEC approves N6bn for water projects in Ogoniland

He said: “My memo today was approved and was with regard to the provision of potable water to the four local governments of Ogoniland of Rivers State; that is Gokana, Khana, Eleme and Tai, in the sum of N6,048,318,974.74. “If you recall, the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project, otherwise known as HYPREP, was commissioned in 2016 to clean Ogoniland, impacted areas of Ogoniland, based on a report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). “The mandate of the project is not just cleaning up the contaminated areas by oil pollution, but also to provide drinking water and three to also provide alternative livelihood for the people of that area.
