The former Forestdale Fire Station has a new life as the base of operations for the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Emergency Management Department. The tribe is leasing the building on Route 130 in Sandwich, which the town sold at auction last October. The tribe’s emergency management department director, Nelson Andrews Jr., said the department is operated under the National Incident Management System and is the tribal equivalent of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. Mr. Andrews said the building in Sandwich was chosen because the facility is large enough to house the response vehicles the emergency department uses, and it is close to Mashpee.
