The National Eating Disorders Association Funds Innovative Clinical Research to Identify and Address Barriers to Treatment and Access to Care News provided by Share this article Share this article NEW YORK, Dec. 11, 2020 /PRNewswire/  The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) provides a critical grant through NEDA s Feeding Hope Fund to support the Barriers to Treatment Access Study, led by Project HEAL in partnership with the Eating Anxiety Treatment (EAT) Lab at the University of Louisville. Eating disorders have some of the most complex and pervasive barriers to treatment of all mental illnesses. Yet to date, there is no published research documenting the extensive challenges that prevent people from access to life-saving care.

Jim Ramstad served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991-2009, representing Minnesota s 3rd congressional district. He joined former Democratic Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy as the lead Republican cosponsor of the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA), which requires insurers to cover treatment for mental health and substance use disorders no more restrictively than treatment for illnesses of the body, such as diabetes and cancer.
