CASS LAKE, Minn. –
The Chippewa Resource Advisory Committee is seeking public proposals to invest approximately $350,000 of accumulated funds authorized by the Secure Rural Schools Act of 2015.
2 A typical day as a member of the Regulatory team across the Southwestern Division might consist of arriving at a District office as a legal instruments examiner, triaging projects coming through via the United States Postal Service and filing the administrative records appropriately.
Other regulators might start their day meeting in a rural location with applicants and consultants, wading waste-deep through a stream to confirm a jurisdictional determination of a wetland and checking databases to ensure that “federally complete date” is correct. In the spring of 2020 things changed with the pandemic to include mandatory telework, and more emphasis on digital communication. Like the daily activities for SWD Regulators, the program adapts to change.

Magic Valley Energy wants to build a wind farm in south central Idaho. With about 400 turbines, it would be the largest wind project in Idaho, producing as much as 1,000 megawatts of power.
Though the project is not yet approved, the developer is hosting town halls this week for community input. The first is on Friday at the College of Southern Idaho at 4 p.m., and the second is on Saturday at the Lincoln County Community Center in Shoshone at 3 p.m.
The project site is predominately in Lincoln County, but also extends into Jerome and Minidoka counties. Construction could start as early as next year.

On April 22 – Earth Day – President Biden announced that the United States would commit to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 to 50% of the country’s 2005 emissions. As a formal matter, the President was announcing the United States’ Nationally Determined Contribution, the voluntary emission reduction under the Paris Agreement.
What does that mean for the environmental regulatory issues that businesses and others will face going forward?
Much has been and will be written about this announcement and the associated statements. This post is not a comprehensive review. Instead, I want to observe that this new announcement tracks much of what we have heard from the Administration in the past three months.
