California Leads Coalition in Support of State-Level Greenhouse Gas Standards 8 hours ago On Tuesday, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and California’s attorney general, Rob Bonta, announced that they will lead a coalition of attorney generals from 22 different states, as well as a number of major cities, in support of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposal to restore California’s waiver under the Clean Air Act for its greenhouse gas and zero emission vehicle (ZEV) programs.  The group supports the EPA’s proposal to walk back its previous ruling that Section 177 of the Clean Air Act does not authorize other states to adopt California’s greenhouse gas standards for passenger cars and light trucks. California’s standards, which already result in emissions reductions of hundreds of thousands of tons annually, are key components of multiple states’ plans to combat climate change and improve public health for all.
