AI Use in Hiring: Legal & Ethical Considerations

Wednesday, March 17, 2021 Recruiting qualified applicants and hiring top talent have always been time-consuming endeavors that come with constant worry about making a wrong hire. America s R&D Leadership Is in Peril - Here s How We Can Save It

America’s R&D infrastructure enabled us to win the Cold War, put a man on the moon, connect us to the internet, and become the most technologically advanced nation in world history. Pfizer and Moderna, for example, developed and deployed a vaccine in less than a year. That would not have been possible without the long-term R&D efforts by life sciences companies, or the short-term laser focus by a unique partnership of the federal government, the private sector, and academia.

That should lead to increasing contract opportunities for information technology vendors with high competence in AI. Federal civilian and defense contract spending for artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) is likely to grow to $4.3 billion in fiscal year 2023, according to a recent report from Bloomberg Government. In the defense sector, AI/ML contract spending was estimated at $1.4 billion in 2020, with projections reaching $2 billion in 2021; $2.4 billion in 2022 and $2.8 billion in 2023.
