Little Omar (Omi) is only 4 months old, was born with Down syndrome, and has struggled with medical conditions.
On the morning of Tuesday, May 5, his mother, Judy Gonzalez Hernandez, drove him to the hospital in fear of dehydration after he had a bout of vomiting and not wanting to feed. Once they reached the hospital, Little Omi then went into cardiac arrest and ended up in critical condition fighting for his life.
He was then transported by helicopter to the Oakland Children s Hospital, and after many restless nights, doctors were able to save his life. Little Omi suffered a tremendous amount of brain damage that has also affected his vision and mobility and will remain in the hospital for many weeks to come.Â

Lisa Ciarlo is the nurse Manager in the Critical Care and Cardiovascular Units and manages the Respiratory Therapist Department.Â
She is being recognized for her innate compassion for patients, as a consistent and vocal advocate for them and their families.
She is knowledgeable, innovative and an excellent teacher. Ms. Ciarlo is a team player who understands the value of collaboration and that the very best patient care requires an interdisciplinary approach.Â
NORRISTOWNÂ â A $2.3 million contract authorized Thursday will cover meal deliveries for those in need.
An agreement, not exceeding $2,313,600, between the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and a number of providers was approved by the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners during a meeting last week.
A request for proposals was initially issued on half of the departmentâs Office of Senior Services for home delivered meals. More than 40 firms viewed the online advertisement, and 10 companies submitted a bid.

Mackenzie Smith, a spokesperson for Dingell, said in a statement to multiple news outlets that the procedure at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., was “successful” and that the congresswoman “is recovering well.”
Dingell is expected to stay in the hospital for about a week as she recovers from the surgery, according to reports from the Detroit Free Press and local radio station WWJ.

By Friday morning, however, Dingell said she “was on fire” on her way back to Dearborn from Washington.
Geography Olympiad accolades
Fox Chapel Area High School sophomore Elijah Conklin will be part of Team USA in the International Geography Olympiad. Conklin earned the honor by placing third in the varsity division of the U.S. Geography Championships. The top four students in the country make up Team USA.
The International Geography Olympiad, or iGeo, is an annual competition for geography students from more than 40 countries. The 2021 iGeo will be held online Aug. 11-15 and hosted by Turkey. The national and international contests require students to have a thorough understanding of both the physical side of geography, including country locations and capitals, as well as the human side, including languages, cultures and population trends.
