Last year was the centenary of the establishment of the Nazi Party in Germany. In 1920, Adolf Hitler wasn’t yet the party’s leader, but he was one of its leading figures. Another five years would pass for the public to become aware of his thoughts and plans, as set forth in his book “Mein Kampf” (“My Struggle”). Its original title was “My Struggle: Four and a Half Years of Struggle against Lies, Stupidity and Cowardice.” Is the time ripe for a new look at and reassessment of this book?

When looking at the cow parable, we see clearly that in the systems of socialism, communism, and fascism, the government controls decisions regarding wealth, work, (re)distribution, and property rights. As Harry Binswanger explained almost a decade ago, these three are best categorized as statism, where individual rights and freedoms are minimized and even ignored.

Adolf Hitler was born in Austria in 1889. Little Adolf was no regular child, however. He was small and sensitive and grew to dislike his father. He strived to be an artist but could not. He grew up to be a favored military man and “enjoyed” wartime. He was rather upset when World War I had ended. During a prison stay, he wrote a memoir which was not taken seriously around the world. After prison, he became the dictator, becoming all powerful.
