Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, March 6 : Seven years after the killing of an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Assam, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S) militants. The NIA filed the chargesheet before a Special Court in Guwahati on Friday. Bishnu Narzary, Nitul Daimary and Runiluish Diamary were named by the agency under charges of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.

It is, technically, still in alliance with the BJP till the end of this Assembly s term, one that it had yesterday declared as dissolved. How can they (BJP) win when I am not on their side? We will have to see the exit of the BJP in Assam, said Mr Mohilary, addressing a joint press conference with Congress and other Mahajath participants units in Guwahati today.

Assam: Karbi militant outfits members surrender

Altogether 1040 members of five militant outfits operating in undivided Karbi Anglong district in Assam laid down arms here on Tuesday evening, two days ahead of signing a peace accord in the presence of Union home minister Amit Shah. Shah is scheduled to visit the poll-bound state on February 25. This is the third major “mainstreaming” of rebels since 2020. Altogether 1,615 members from three National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) factions had laid down arms in January 2020, three days after the signing of the tripartite Bodo Accord. This was followed by laying down of arms by 64 rebels belonging to four outfits, the big catch being Ulfa(I)’s deputy commander-in-chief Drishti Rajkhowa.
