The NCAA Divison I Indoor Track and Field Championships are here, and they go from Thursday through Saturday at the University of Arkansas.
Interestingly enough, there are a handful of first-year athletes who have the potential to be All-Americans plus a few more who could also win their first NCAA title this weekend.
Texas A&M s Athing Mu and Florida s Talitha Diggs will compete for a 400m title
Charlie Robertson, Sr., Franklin
Robertson improved from seventh at state as a sophomore to finish second last season behind teammate Aidan Palmer (now at Boise State). The Colorado signee and 2019 3,000-meter champion on the track won the final Elite 5K race at Hydrangea Ranch in Tillamook in November, beating Wyoming 3A state champion Peter Visser of Star Valley by eight seconds.
Ryan Schumacher, Sr., Jesuit
Schumacher, who signed with Notre Dame in the fall, moved up 25 spots between his sophomore and junior years to place fourth at the state cross country championships last season. He traveled to Indiana in November and placed 12th at the XC Town USA Meet of Champions.

Audrey DaDamio (Bloomfield Village, Mich./Seaholm HS)
Personal bests: 1,600 – 4:52.10; Mile – 4:55.30; 3,000 – 10:04.31; 3,200 – 10:24.78
Audrey DaDamio is the 2020 Michigan Division I cross country champion and state Meet of Champions winner. She was fifth overall at the AAU national cross country championships (15-18 age group) last week with the No. 6 high school time ever recorded at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida. She is the Michigan Indoor Track Series state meet record holder in the 3,200 meters (10:24.78) and has won six regional and three Oakland County titles in track and cross country. DaDamio is the granddaughter of Olympic speed skating champion Terry McDermott and sister of Notre Dame distance All-American Rachel DaDamio.

One of the most decorated high school athletes in Chautauqua County high school history now knows where he will spend his next four years.
John Swabik signed a national letter of intent Wednesday night to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder to run track and field for the Buffaloes.
“Colorado has been talking to me for a solid three or four months,” Swabik said Thursday evening. “I’m happy that I’ve made my decision and I can kind of put that college search behind me. That’s been really stressful and put a lot of weight on my shoulders.”
