During the past week, Catawba Valley Community College was honored to host the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Womenâs Basketball Championship at the Tarlton Complex â an event that was moved to Hickory just short 12 days prior to its first tip off.
The tournament, which was originally scheduled to be held at St. Clair Community College in Port Huron, Mich., was moved due to an increase in COVID cases in St. Clair County in Michigan.
For those who arenât aware, national tournaments hosted by the NJCAA are usually awarded and bid on by colleges years before the events take place in order to plan this great undertaking, but under the current environment the move of the yearâs event had to happen quickly. The quality of the tournament could not be affected, and most importantly, the experience of the student-athletes was paramount. This undertaking had to be planned and organized in less than 10 short day

Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated reported that the NCAA is likely going to make some pretty dramatic changes to pre-season football camp including dropping the number of allowed padded practices and increasing the number of helmet only practices.
From the article:
In the latest working model, a 25-practice camp must include at least nine non-contact, padless practices (helmets only). That’s up from the current rule of two mandatory padless practices, which are part of an acclimatization period at the beginning of each camp. No more than eight practices can feature full pads and full contact, up from 21 under the current rule.

By Tom Seipp, Managing Editor Last season, the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team had zero depth for insurance behind Osun Osunniyi at the center position. Now, they have plenty, as the team has just received their fourth commitment of the early offseason. Wednesday, the Bonaventure athletics department confirmed the commitment of Oluwasegun Durosinmi, who signed his National Letter of Intent to join the team for the next four seasons. “Coach said the right things and the situation was perfect for me,” Durosinmi said. “I’m just going to come in and help the team… I’m going to help out Osun, backing him up. We were just A-10 champs, I can come in and learn from the veterans.”
