Brazil calls off AstraZeneca vaccine for pregnant women Brazil calls off AstraZeneca vaccine for pregnant women Brasilia, May 12 (Prensa Latina) Brazil´s Health Ministry on Tuesday called off AstraZeneca vaccine doses for Brazilian pregnant and postpartum women. Health ministry detailed that pregnant women should receive CoronaVac vaccine doses, an immunizer produced by the Chinese Laboratory Sinovac, and Pfizer vaccines. In the case of those pregnant women who received AstraZeneca jab, they should seek a medical follow-up. Following the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) recommendations, 22 Brazilian states changed the vaccine doses for pregnant women. The determination is valid until the completion of the analysis of a rare case of the death of a 35-year-old pregnant woman from hemorrhagic stroke, which may be related to the use of AstraZeneca.
