HC gives nod to EFLU recruitments Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Telangana High Court on Wednesday gave green signal to English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) to go ahead with the recruitment of persons to different posts for which it had issued notification in year 2020. A bench of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, however, instructed EFLU not to announce results till further orders. EFLU had moved the HC challenging the order issued by National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) to stop the recruitment. The NCBC gave the orders following a petition filed by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Dasoju Sravan Kumar.

A Bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and R. Subhash Reddy decided to wait till a Constitution Bench pronounces its judgment in the Maratha quota case. The five-judge Constitution Bench, also led by Justice Bhushan, is scheduled from March 8 to examine the validity of the Maharashtra State Reservation for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) Act of 2018. By including the Maratha community for quota benefits, the Maharashtra law, like Tamil Nadu’s legislation, has crossed the 50% ceiling limit and touched 65%.

A bench of Chief Justice Bobe and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian issued notice to the Centre and National Commission for Backward Classes. The court was hearing a plea filed by Telangana-based social activist G Mallesh Yadav, who contended that a caste census was a “vital necessity” for the betterment of Other Backward Classes, a vast collection of castes that make up over half the country’s population.
