Pandemic Suicide Numbers 10:35 pm An unfortunate discovery has come out of a study by the CDC on how the pandemic impacted young girls. According to the CDC, when looking at emergency room data across the united states it shows suspected suicide attempts skyrocketed for young girls. The study reports emergency department visits for suspected suicide attempts for girls 12 to 17-year-olds rose drastically. From February 21st through March 20th of this year the CDC reports the visits increased 50.6% compared to that same period in 2019. “The numbers that we’re seeing are alarming and it’s something I’ve never seen before in my career,” said Dr. Matthew Perry who works in the ER at Conemaugh Hospital.
