Dulaney High School senior Kathy Yao, was recently honored as a 2021 Presidential Scholar, which recognizes outstanding students for their accomplishments in academics, artistic and technical excellence and leadership.
The National Leadership Conference for the Business Professionals of America included 28 local students.
Business Professionals of America is a youth organization which provides leadership and business opportunities for middle school and high school students to prepare them for their future careers. The skills that students learn through participating in a variety of business experiences are beneficial and will help prepare students for a career in the workforce, coach Mindy Eggleston said.
The conference took place virtually from April 26-May 8, 2021; over 6,000 students across the nation participated. At this conference, students participated in business related events and competed for the top spots. Hillsdale Community Schools had a total of 28 students who placed in the top ten of the nation.
Sault High students compete on national level for BPA

SAULT STE. MARIE Twenty-six students from Sault Area High School and Career Center competed at the virtual 48th Annual Michigan Association State Leadership Conference for Business Professionals of America in March.
Of the 26 students who competed in their respective events, 10 Sault Area Career Center students placed to move on to the National Leadership Conference, which took place throughout the end of April and beginning of May.

The Three Forks Middle Schoolâs Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter has been awarded first place in a national contest designed to teach students how to make informed, responsible decisions about their health and provide opportunities for youth to teach others about making healthy choices.
The goals of the local chapter project were to encourage and educate students about the importance of kindness by carrying out random acts of kindness throughout the middle school.
The chapterâs specific activities project included a Santa Holiday project to provide gifts and food baskets to area families in need; making touch-free photo booths for the Three Forks Christmas Stroll; making motivational locker magnets for all middle school students; and providing snacks for middle school students during semester tests.
Davis named Texas FCCLA president

GLEN ROSE Glen Rose’s Caroline Davis was elected as the Texas FCCLA state president at the State Leadership Conference in Dallas April 7-10.
Davis is the first Glen Rose High School student ever elected to the position.
“While we have had many region and state officers throughout our long history, we have never had a state president,” said Glen Rose FCCLA Adviser Tayler Sullivan. “Leading the second-largest state association in the country is a huge accomplishment and commitment.”
And Sullivan said Davis has what it takes to take the position and run with it.
