This is a fundamental strategy for the waterway s long-term operation and sustainability,” said Panama Canal Administrator Ricaurte Vásquez Morales. “This process will build on our long-standing efforts to minimize our environmental impact, including encouraging customers to use clean fuels and reduce their carbon footprint.”

DOF wants pedestrian-friendly cities

The Department of Finance (DOF) said that local government units (LGUs) should perform in transforming the country’s most congested cities into walkable, pedestrian-friendly communities. In a statement, Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III has underscored the key role of LGUs in creating green, safe and comfortable public spaces in their respective localities. He then lauded the core convenors of the Green EDSA Movement for setting the example for LGUs and other sectors by spearheading the “green” makeover of EDSA, which was launched on Thursday, April 22, to coincide with the global celebration of Earth Day. “I wish this Movement success in this brave effort to make EDSA a greener and therefore a kinder place for our people. May this be a shining example of an empowered people’s initiative to build a sustainable and healthier future for our country,” Dominguez said.

Biden will make the promise, call Nationally Determined Contribution (National Determined Contribution), when he speaks at the two-day virtual climate summit that will be attended by dozens of world leaders from Thursday morning, according to the White House. Biden rejoined the 2015 climate pact in February, reversing the decision of former President Donald Trump to withdraw the United States from the global coalition to curb carbon emissions.

As promises for greenhouse gas reductions become more ambitious, international forecasts projecting that nuclear may contribute at most 10 percent of the global energy supply by 2050 are not ambitious enough . These analyses miscalculate because they don t take emerging nuclear technologies into account. And they don t consider the magnitude of the challenge to decarbonize energy faster as the risks due to climate change grow. Our Nationally Determined Contributions should explicitly include nuclear energy.
