New Delhi, May 11 : India s pistol coach Pavel Smirnov will not accompany the 28-member national shooting squad to Croatia on Tuesday due to delay in visa process. He hasn t got a visa for Croatia [yet] so can t go with the team. But he will go next week when he gets the necessary travel documents, a national level coach told IANS.
As many as 13 shooters in the squad will attend an Olympic camp in the European country.

New Delhi, May 9 : Olympic Games-bound 10-meter air pistol shooter Saurabh Chaudhary, recovering from Covid-19, has been advised not to rush back to hard training as it could have a damaging impact on his performance, says a national level pistol coach. He has just got back to training after 15 days break due to Covid-19. He might feel okay, but it s not advisable to rush back immediately to hard training sessions as it could set in residual fatigue. Since the Tokyo Olympics are around 75 days away the talented shooter should take it easy otherwise it could prevent him from performing up to his optimum level, the coach told IANS.

New Delhi, May 10 : India s Gurjoat Singh Khangura made a promising start by shooting 74 out of 75 in the opening three rounds of the men s skeet event of the Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy, on Sunday.
But Angadvir Singh Bajwa, who has qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games, shot a sub-par 71 in the opening three rounds.
Despite his good score, Khangura is lying at the 13th spot out of 55 competitors while Bajwa is at the bottom of the table. His position is 53rd.

New Delhi, May 8 : Olympic-bound shooter Abhishek Verma is excited to travel to Croatia for the national camp. The 30-year-old says the trip will help the national team stay focussed for the Tokyo Olympics.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has arranged a three-month long national camp in Croatia. The situation in India is not good for training due to pandemic. It is good that NRAI is sending the national team to Europe, said the 10 metre air pistol shooter.
