On the Town: OKC art exhibitions to capture imaginations By: Lillie-Beth Brinkman The Journal Record May 11, 2021 Lillie-Beth Brinkman As you wait for the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s upcoming major exhibit featuring “The Painters of Pompeii,” let two new exhibitions get you in the mood as they take your imagination either back in time or to the Italian countryside. Opening at 10 a.m. Saturday, “From Heroes to Immortals: Classical Mythological Prints” and “A Room With a View: Science of the Italian Countryside” will feature works from OKCMOA’s permanent collection. “From Heroes to Immortals” will feature 500 years of work on paper that explore people’s fascination with stories from classical mythology, said Bryn Schockmel, curator for both exhibitions, in a news release. “A Room With a View” will feature the Italian countryside’s sweeping vistas and ancient runes, especially from 19th-century American artists.
