LOS ANGELES, CA Negotiations are scheduled to resume Thursday between the union representing more than 1,500 health care workers at USC- affiliated health care facilities and call centers and the university, one day after the announcement of the authorization of a five-day strike next month.

The signatures have all been verified and the California Secretary of State says there are more than enough valid signatures to trigger a recall election of Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Workers from three Tenet Healthcare-owned facilities in Southern California are planning a public demonstration to protest issues around low wages, understaffing and unsafe work conditions.
The rally is set to be held outside of Fountain Valley Regional Hospital from 11:00 a.m. to noon on May 6 and is timed against the for-profit health system’s annual shareholders meeting.

California Secretary of State Shirley Weber announced on April 26 that over 1.6 million valid voter signatures were submitted on petitions seeking to recall Governor Gavin Newsom, making it all but certain that a recall election will be held toward the end of this year.
