The Ignite4Change founder says this was why he was pleased to be announced as one of two Fijian candidates that would be vying for the role of chairperson of the Commonwealth Youth Council. “The position of chairperson to the Pacific region comes once in a generation and I intend to become the first Pacific Islander to achieve this and begin work on the ground once elected,” he said. Mr Mervyn, an active youth and community member for the past decade was chosen from more than hundreds of nominations received from across the Commonwealth following a thorough review and would be competing for the nine executive seats on the council.
