Jakarta (ANTARA) Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Suryani Motik conveyed that in the current crisis situation, housewives act as the finance minister of the family as well as leader who provide an example for children.  This demand forces women to struggle to maintain the family economy and to maintain the business they have built. Women will not hesitate or be embarrassed to start business from scratch, said Suryani on an online talkshow hosted by The National Support for Local Investment Climates/National Support for Enhancing Local and Regional Economic Development (NSLIC/NSELRED), Thursday.

The targeted investment in human resources will not just cover education, but also medical care since good health helps people realize their potential and ward off illness. One of the priority issues for the program involves grooming a healthy younger generation, or a golden generation, for “onward Indonesia”, a term that refers to Widodo’s ministerial line-up. The government considers the current condition of children under the age of five as a reflection of Indonesia’s future. Hence, the administration is prioritizing drastically reducing stunting rate among Indonesian children.

In reality, however, we must ask if greed is bad, good - or in fact both? Greed is a prime manifestation of human kind’s individualistic mentality and selfishness. It is potentially destructive when used to chase profits by blindly disregarding moral norms. On the other hand, it can also be a constructive force. In September 1970, Milton Friedman wrote a legendary article in the New York Post entitled “The Social Responsibility Of Business Is to Increase Its Profits”. That title captures profit-making as a main foundation of business attitudes in the marketplace.
