Named after an infant alien, an outer space bounty hunter, a Jedi Knight and a fictional desert planet, four great white sharks with Star Wars-inspired names were given the spotlight Tuesday, May 4, a day meant to celebrate the colossal science-fiction franchise.
“ ‘May the Fourth’ be with you and happy Star Wars Day! We wanted to share some white sharks that share the name of some Star Wars characters,” the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy wrote in a tweet.
The conservancy, a nonprofit that seeks to bolster scientific research and track shark sightings, posted images of the great whites that have swum near the Bay State alongside the message about National Star Wars Day, otherwise known as “May the 4th.”
Tuesday (May the 4th) is âStar Warsâ Day.
Celebrated annually, the date never changes. Itâs a reference to the oft-said line (and its many variations), âMay the force be with you.â
George Lucasâ behemoth franchise first hit movie screens on May 25, 1977, when âStar Wars Episode IV: A New Hopeâ was released.
It kicked off a fandom that has spanned decades and generations, introducing us to the world of Jedis, Stormtroopers, Sith, Wookies, Ewoks and too many other species to list.
Over the past nearly 44 years, that first movie has blossomed into television cartoons, live-action series or shows.
According to the website radiotimes.com, there are a number of ways to watch the “Star Wars” movies, cartoons and live-action series in order.
