(CBS4) – National Donate Life Month is wrapping up and one special recipient is sharing his story to help raise awareness.
Three days after Stockton was born in Montrose, he was flown to Children’s Hospital Colorado where he spent three weeks in the NICU due to kidney and bladder issues. Health officials determined his kidneys were small and atypically formed as a result of a blockage at his bladder outlet. He was discharged home but due to declining kidney function needed to start peritoneal dialysis at several months of age. Eventually, Stockton would need a new kidney.

The Harris County - Houston Sports Authority rocked out at Toyota Center with the Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann, and LifeGift as they celebrated the 2021 World Transplant Games 5k AnyWay’s 30-day countdown kickoff. Press conference attendees and 5k AnyWay participants from around the world took part in the festivities in person and online.
“We took what could have been seen a negative, and we have been creating something extremely positive for the transplant community. For the first time in the Games history, transplant waitlist patients, donor families, and supporters of all kinds are able to compete.”

DEARBORN, Mich. – April is National Donate Life Month, a time to celebrate the generosity of those who have saved lives by becoming organ, tissue, bone marrow donors and by making blood donations.
The people who have received those donations are grateful every day. Mohamed El-Souri is a Dearborn college student. He was born in the United States but spent most of his childhood in Lebanon.

According to LifeNet Health, the region s only full service tissue bank, there are nearly 110,000 adults and children in the country waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant.
One local woman has been raising awareness for becoming an organ donor, after her son TJ tragically passed away seven years ago.
