PALANPUR: Death of 75 crows under mysterious circumstances has once again spread bird flu scare in Kimbuva village on Patan-Deesa highway, nearly 13km away from Patan.
The crows were found dead under a tree at around 7am on Sunday.
“The district veterinary team rushed to the spot. They collected carcass to ascertain the cause of death,” said Daxesh Patel, a member of village panchayat. Five carcasses have been sent for further investigation at Bhopal-based National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, said district animal husbandry officer Dr Amit Joshi.

MUMBAI: Bird flu has been confirmed in Palghar in Maharashtra following the death of 45 chickens at a poultry farm, ANI reported on Wednesday, quoting deputy collector Kiran Mahajan.
Giving this information, Mahajan said, The district administration has ordered closure of all poultry farms and shops selling chicken for the next 21 days.

Maharashtra has reported the death of 356 more birds, most of them poultry birds, amid the avian influenza outbreak in parts of the state, the government said on Wednesday. The fresh deaths of birds were reported on Tuesday and their samples are being sent for testing, the government said.
According to an official statement, out of the 356 birds, 343 were poultrybirds of which 229 were found dead in Nandurbar district. Navapur in Nandurbar district was the epicentre of the 2006 avian influenza outbreak in the state. Eleven crows and two herons also died on Tuesday,it said.

So far, 7,20,515 poultry birds, including 5,86,668 from Navapur in Nandurbar, have been culled, and 26,44,177 eggs as well as 73,004 kilograms of poultry feed destroyed in infected zones, and carcasses were being buried in lime lined pits to prevent the spread of infection, a state government release informed.
Reuters 380 of these were poultry birds.
