Jamshedpur: The Covid-induced lockdown and the consequent slowdown in the market have reportedly hampered campus placements at the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. Sources at the institute said that several companies, especially in the automobile, manufacturing, construction and steel sectors, have not provided job offers in the bulk like they used to in other years. “Due to market constraints, several companies are offering jobs in a phased manner. The companies first want to be sure about the prospects of the projects in the pipeline,” the professor in-charge of the placement cell at NIT, Prahlad Prasad, said. He said that owing to the moderate pace of placement, the exercise may stretch till June this year. Earlier, it was expected that the placement process that commenced in September last year would conclude by February 2021.

The chief secretary asked the district dministrations of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Puri and Khurda to ensure strict compliance of COVID-19 safety norms during the President s visit. On March 21, the President will attend the convocation of National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Rourkela. Students who will be receiving degrees and certificates from the President and drivers who will be on duty will have to undergo COVID-19 test.

Srinagar NIT set to adopt Hindi as official language | India News

SRINAGAR: Following directions from the Centre, the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, is all set to adopt Hindi (Raj Basha) as its official language (OL). Towards this end, a language inspection by Suniti Sharma, director of official language department, ministry of human resource development, was conducted on the NIT campus recently. During their interaction, NIT-Srinagar director Rakesh Sehgal and registrar SK Bukhari apprised Sharma of the progress in adoption of Hindi language on the campus for official transactions. Sharma also interacted with heads of departments and faculty members, including in-charge of the NIT’s Hindi Cell, to take stock of work being done for OL implementation.
