CAMWATER estimates monthly losses to water frauds at XAF1 bln
(Business in Cameroon) - On April 15, 2021, on the government media CRTV, national water utility CAMWATER estimated its monthly losses to water frauds at XAF1 billion. In Yaoundé alone, fraudsters who are connected to our facilities and have faulty meters cause a XAF600 million loss monthly. The monthly losses we record [due to those frauds] in the whole country is about XAF1 billion, the company reveals. This means that CAMWATER records XAF12 billion losses annually to frauds.
The company adds that to put an end to these practices, it intends to enhance the security at its facilities and switch to smart meters. With the conventional meters currently used by CAMWATER, the readings and the bills are always disputed by clients. However, with the smart meters, the consumptions will be read electronically while disputes will be reduced.

France tops the EU wheat production ranking, with a crop of 30.073 million tons last year, followed by Germany - 22.171 million tons, Poland - 11.728 million tons, Spain - 8.267 million tons, Italy - 6.716 million tons and Romania - 6.410 million tons.
By cultivated area, Romania was fourth in the EU with 2.146 million hectares, after France (4.513 million hectares), Germany (2.833 million hectares) and Poland (2.472 million hectares).
Argentina has received a shipment of 864,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX global vaccination programme, the government said on Sunday, a day after demonstrations broke out against lockdown measures imposed in the Buenos Aires area.
The doses from the Netherlands come after Argentina received 218,000 jabs last month through COVAX, which aims to ensure lower-income nations have equitable access to much-needed vaccines.
The South American country has administered 6.2 million jabs since its vaccine roll-out began in December of last year, while around 800,000 people are considered fully immunised after receiving two doses.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec) released this Friday the final data of the 2018 Agricultural Census (CNA-18), in which a total of 221,207 agricultural establishments with a defined limit were registered throughout the country, 25.6% fewer than in the survey carried out in 2002.
In total, during the survey with a cut-off date of December 31, 2017, 249,663 agricultural establishments (EAP) were identified, of which 221,207 were declared with defined boundaries, i.e., where the producer declares the area worked.
