NEW DELHI: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday filed draft papers with markets regulator Sebi for floating an Infrastructure Investment Trust (InVIT) through which it seeks to raise Rs 5,100 crore. InvITs are instruments on the pattern of mutual funds and are designed to pool small sums of money from a number of investors to invest in assets that give cash flow over a period of time. NHAI plans to mop up total of Rs 5,100 crore through fresh issue, as per the draft papers filed with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). In addition, there would be an offer-for-sale (OFS). However, the OFS amount has not been specified in the draft papers.
National Highway toll gate at Hejmadi
MANGALURU: Private bus owners, who are operating bus services via the national highway toll gate at Hejmady, have decided to suspend services from March 15 opposing toll collection.
Bus owners in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have been complaining against the ‘hefty’ toll for all buses, including those plying on village roads. Soon after making FASTag mandatory, the toll authorities at Hejmady have stopped the concession given for such buses.
Canara Bus Operators’ Association vice-president Durgaprasad Hegde told TOI that bus service will remain suspended till the toll authorities restore concession.
“All shuttle service buses, including those on Mangaluru -Udupi route, that cross the Hejmady toll gate will remain suspended. We are given a concession rate of Rs 6,500 per month for each bus at the Surathkal toll gate. We are paying only about 40% of the actual toll charge at Surathkal. New Delhi: Union minister Nitin Gadkari said on Friday that he is hopeful that the construction work on Rs 8,662-crore Dwarka Expressway will be completed before 15 August 2022. The 29-km expressway, which connects Dwarka in Delhi to Gurugram, is being constructed under the Bharatmala Project. Gadkari said it will be the first-ever elevated Urban Expressway in India.

Mandatory FASTag has renewed the demand for a service road near Trumpet interchange
toll plaza on the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) road. In the last few weeks, farmers and locals have staged protests, demanding a toll-free service road in the area.
Anand Kumar, a resident of Devanahalli, explained, “It is an unfair deal for people who live around the area and have to cross the toll multiple times, even for short distances. We need a toll-free option and hence we are demanding a service road here.”
In addition to the above, a ‘Check Balance Status' feature has been added to the ‘My FASTag App’. The app will show the FASTag wallet balance status in colour codes green for a tag with sufficient balance, orange for low balance, and red for those in negative, said the release.
