Production companies must apply for the Special Filming Certificate (SPP Khas) from the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) before they are allowed to conduct studio filming activities without an audience. Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said apart from an approval of the SPP Khas application, all production personnel involved have to undergo Covid-19 screening tests before the results are submitted to Finas three days before the filming date.

A days-old petition calling for the heads of National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) to be dismissed has gained over 3,000 signatures at the time of writing.
The change.org petition was launched on Friday (February 5) by an anonymous group of Malaysian creative and film industry players who call themselves Art Revolt. It demands the country’s Ministry of Communications and Multimedia remove Finas CEO Ahmad Idham bin Ahmad Nadzri and Chairman Zakaria Abdul Hamid from the government agency.

KUANTAN: The proposed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to allow arts activities to be carried out including studio and outside filming as well as live events will be presented at the National Security Council (MKN) meeting today (Monday), said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.
He said the proposed SOPs, which would be stricter than the previous ones, were expected to be immediately approved in order to ensure the survival of those involved in the arts industry who are currently trapped in the ‘no job, no salary’ situation.
