Well, I’d like to thank Director Haines and Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Christy Abizaid, for showing me around the watch floor.
Folks, the main reason I came and I mean this sincerely is to say thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. The American people, almost by definition, are not able to know what you do. And you devote so much of your time, your effort, and many of you end up risking your lives in the Intelligence Community to do things to make sure that your families and people back here are safe make a difference.
The committee investigating the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol has not yet decided on a timeline to complete its work. We take a look at its investigation with Seamus Hughes, a counterterrorism expert with the program on extremism at George Washington University. He previously worked in the National Counterterrorism Center, and as a staffer on the Senate homeland security committee.

MCLEAN, Va. (AP) â President Joe Biden used his first visit with rank-and-file members of the U.S. intelligence community â a part of government that was frequently criticized by his predecessor Donald Trump â to make a promise that he will ânever politicizeâ their work.
Biden waited more than six months to make the short drive across the Potomac River on Tuesday to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, giving analysts and national security leaders â often derided by Trump as the âdeep state â some breathing room.
The president in his remarks to about 120 ODNI employees and senior leadership officials sought to make clear that he understood the complexity and critical nature of their work. The agency oversees the 17 other U.S. intelligence organizations.
