Dawn Staley has been tabbed to head up the 2021 USA AmeriCup Team coaching staff as the USA looks to earn a second-straight gold medal at the FIBA Americas event. Staley, who recently led her University of South Carolina team to the 2021 NCAA Final Four, will be assisted by University of Arizona head coach
Adia Barnes, who took the Wildcats to the 2021 NCAA title game, as well as U.S. Olympic assistant coach
Jennifer Rizzotti.
The USA team that will compete in the AmeriCup will be comprised of current collegiate athletes, and invitees to attend the April 18-21 team trials, held at the University of South Carolina, will be announced at a later date.

Stephen Silas has had a front row seat to watch some of the NBA’s most prolific players during the early stages of their career.
Silas was an assistant coach with Cleveland in 2003 when LeBron James was a rookie, an assistant with Golden State in 2009 when Stephen Curry was a rookie, and an assistant with Charlotte in 2011 when Kemba Walker was a rookie. And yes, Silas also was an assistant with the Mavericks in 2018 when Luka Doncic was a rookie.
Between those four players, they’ve combined to earn a whopping 30 All-Star berths. And Silas is the only person who was there when their NBA careers started.

Arizona has made the decision to part ways with head basketball coach Sean Miller and will now look to hire a new coach. The hiring comes at a unique time because of the IARP and the fact that nobody knows what the future will hold.
The Arizona administration will have to navigate the results of the IARP that are likely coming next summer, firing of Miller, and hiring of a new coach. The public eye will likely be on the hire because of how everything has gone down and Arizona will have to convince a new coach that the punishment will not take away from the ability to move forward and build a successful program.
