Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Nnewi unveils multi-million Ecclessoopolis Basilica project

The Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Diocese of Nnewi, has unveiled multi million naira Ecclessoopolis project that will serve as the headquarters of the Diocese.
The project was unveiled by the Bishop of Diocese of Nnewi, Rt. Rev Ndubuisi Obi, during the church service to mark 25th Years Silver Jubilee Anniversary of the Diocese, held at Cathedral Church of St Mary, Nnewi, Anambra State.
Bishop Obi disclosed that the Ecclessoopolis, will have the new Bishops House, Bishops Chaplin house, lodging accommodation, cathedral workers house, guest house for lodging and accommodation that will contain between 350 to 450 guests, including many others houses and offices.

Not less than a total of 1,158 students on Thursday took an oath of matriculation at Sokoto State University, Sokoto for the 2019/2020 academic session.
Speaking at the event the vice-chancellor of the school Prof Muhammad Sani Dangoggo says the university has grown from a modest beginning to a highly rated citadel of research and higher learning.
Dangoggo said that the school since its inception has pursued with vigour its vision of becoming a world-class institution that produces globally competitive graduates who can advance economic development and are prepared to meet the challenges of time.
The vice-chancellor further said that aside from the university’s three faculties, 18 departments and 23 degree programmes, it has also established a Centre for Entrepreneurial Research and Development, Centre for Mathematical Sciences and Centre for the Study of Sokoto Caliphate.

A former Executive Secretary, National University Commission, Prof. Peter Okebukola, has said the book written in his honour, ‘Prof. Okebukola at 70: Dialogue on Pivotal issues in Higher Education Development in Nigeria, will provide solution to problems of higher education in Nigeria.
Okebukola who was speaking at a zoom meeting where his friends and colleagues celebrated him on his 70th birthday said the book had insights into many problems facing higher education in Nigeria as well as the right solutions.
“I have read through the book and I can tell you , it is a great one. It is a book for yesterday, today , tomorrow and the future. If I want to do justice to the book, I will personally take copies to the Minister of Education, in Abuja and the Executive Secretary, NUC. I will tell them, these are the issues in higher education as well as the solutions,” he said.

How would you describe the practice and acceptance of Geosciences in Nigeria?
I think it’s important to understand that Geoscience is a broad field and it encompasses a number of things. It has Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry and the rest of that put together to form Geosciences.
