National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds said on Sunday that evidence available from the Ministry of Health suggests local citizens and not immigrants – whether illegal or not – were primarily responsible for the recent spike in covid19 cases.
During the Ministry of Health s media briefing on April 21, Hinds dismissed claims that illegal migrants were to blame for the increase in cases.
Responding to questions at a media conference on Sunday, Hinds maintained that Trinbagonians through their behaviour were to blame for the increase in cases.

In a bid to better secure Trinidad s southern peninsula, National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds announced that members of the regiment will be assigned to Camp La Romaine by the end of May.
Speaking at a passing-out ceremony for members of the defence force at Teteron Barracks, Chaguaramas, on Monday, Hinds said the decision to move troops to La Romaine was done to better secure the southern part of Trinidad as well as oil and gas assets in the area.

IN HIS first press conference as National Security Minister, Fitzgerald Hinds acknowledged there were kinks in the armour of the national security apparatus as he called on security heads to deal with rogue elements who can undermine the hard work being done to secure this country.
Speaking from his ministry office in Port of Spain on Sunday, as he was flanked by Police Commissioner Gary Griffith and Chief of Defence Staff Air Vice Marshal Darryl Daniel, Hinds also called on members of the protective services to step up your game, just as your leaders have, adding that more can be done.

FOR the second time in four days, Prime Minister Dr Rowley will face the nation when he hosts a press conference on Monday.
What he will announce is anyone s guess, but it is a safe bet he will be discussing the covid19 pandemic from a TT perspective.
In confirming this press conference, scheduled for 2 pm at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann s, a press release issued by the Office of the Prime Minister on Sunday indicated that the Prime Minister will also be joined by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh and National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds at Monday s press briefing.
