Lithuania to up social benefits for military personnel

On Wednesday, the Lithuanian government approved a draft legislative package aimed at providing greater social security for military personnel. The proposed amendments will allow twice as many military personnel to claim reimbursement [of expenses], Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas said. They will expand access to reimbursement of housing rental and travel expenses.
Drafted by the Defence Ministry, the amendments to the Law on the Organisation of the National Defense System and Military Service will permit military personnel to claim expenses for meals if they are only partially provided with food.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for enhancing indigenisation in the national security system and developing the Indian military into a future force . He said indigenisation was needed not just in sourcing equipment and weapons but also in the doctrines, procedures and customs practised in the armed forces.
The Prime Minister, addressing the valedictory session of the Combined Commanders Conference at Kevadia in Gujarat, also stressed the importance of optimising manpower planning in both military and civilian parts of the National security architecture.
