The Ministry of National Security has reacted to an assault allegation made by Citi FM journalist Caleb Kudah.
Caleb was picked up by National Security Operatives on Tuesday for filming within their premises. Recounting his experience after his release, the Citi FM journalist said: “All the police officers there became agitated and aggressive towards me, so they took me to a smaller office and I showed them my ID and told them that I am from Citi FM. I agree I shouldn’t have taken the photo, let’s delete it and please let me go, but they wouldn’t.

‘Your charges are not properly laid’
The Kaneshie District Court, presided over by Her Honour Mrs Ama Adomah-Kwakye, has dismissed a case brought before it by a police prosecution team involving alleged National Security Operatives who went mining in the Atewa Forest.
According to the Magistrate, the charges brought before her by the prosecution were not properly made, hence, she would not entertain it.
Thus, each of the accused persons, numbering 32, has been charged with possession of firearms without lawful authority, which is contrary to Section 192 of the Criminal Offence Act 1960 (Act 29).
Section192 (1) states that: “Notwithstanding the provisions of any other enactment, possession of any person who has in his possession, custody or control without lawful excuse, the proof whereof shall be on him, any explosive, firearm or ammunition shall be guilty of first degree felony.”

The case of the 33 fake National Security operatives who were arrested for galamsey activities in the Eastern is getting more intense as the Kaneshie District Court refused jurisdiction to hear and grant them bail.
Drama unfolded when the court turned down an invitation to grant bail to 11 of the suspects who appeared before it.
The prosecutor, ASP Sylvester Asare, was in court to secure a remand order to enable the state to gather evidence and make its case against the suspects.
A case of possession of firearms without lawful excuse is being built against them.
