Despite a collapsing Lebanese economy and considerable political turmoil, Hezbollah continues to threaten Israel. These threats must be taken seriously, given the Iranian-backed proxy army’s Hezbollah incredible stockpile of long-range, medium-range, and short-range missiles that can reach every square inch of Israel.
I spoke last Friday with the Middle East Forum about the worst-case scenarios for a conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The possibilities include a surprise attack by Hezbollah, an Israeli pre-emptive strike, an unplanned escalation, and a multi-front war against Israel.
The situation is a powder keg, and one false move can set any of these scenarios in motion. Israelis understood the surprise attack possibility in 2019 when they discovered several well-built tunnels that started more than a half-mile inside of Lebanon but crossed into Israel. Hezbollah could have used them to attack northern Israeli communities, trying t

Service members fluent in foreign languages are becoming more valuable to the Department of Defense. While a few members of the Navy’s information warfare community (IWC) already are proficient in them, the IWC broadly lacks language capabilities and is under-invested in routinely training its members in particularly useful languages. This deficiency creates issues in information exchange with allies and a void in the deeper understanding of adversaries and competitors. To improve the situation, the Navy can make a number of relatively low-cost, high-yield investments in foreign language proficiency: funding and enrolling more IWC sailors in DoD language schools, paying for commercially available language services to sustain more sailors, and employing fluent speakers to help teach foreign languages to other IWC sailors. Eventually, the IWC should link foreign language proficiency to some of its members’ professional knowledge and enable language comp

No one is immune from Washington s sordid maneuvers.

Bidenâs Push for Restoring Aid to Palestinians Faces Legal Hurdles and Brewing Political Crisis
Plans in the works are not only to restart funding for UNRWA; the new administration is pushing more fiscal aid and a return to the negotiating table as Palestinians head for elections in May.
(JNS) In recent days, the Biden administration has moved rapidly to restore funding to the Palestinians that had been largely severed during the Trump administration.
Concerns are being raised, however, that the funding could both violate existing U.S. law, while also rewarding bad behavior by the Palestinian leadership through their continued support of terrorism, their targeting Israel in international forums such as the International Criminal Court, and perhaps most importantly in terms of optics, their refusal to even sit down with Israelis or Americans and engage in the peace process.
