Havana, Apr 29 (Prensa Latina) Dance constitutes a platform to bring our identity, the unmistakable features of (.) Cubanness to every corner of the planet, Dani Hernandez, main dancer of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) said on Thursday.
In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, Hernandez highlighted the role of the members of the Cuban ballet company as ambassadors of their culture, as they have endowed this cultural expression with prestige and glory in both Cuba and abroad.
On the occasion of International Dance Day, Hernandez evoked the enactment of Law 812 of 1960, which guaranteed the existence of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), the foundation of the artistic teaching system, as well as the design of a cultural policy that allowed the development of excellent professionals.

Havana Apr 28 (Prensa Latina) The grand maitre de ballet and director of the Prodanza company, Laura Alonso, won on Wednesday the National Dance Award 2021 granted by the National Council of Performing Arts of Cuba.
On its official Twitter account, the entity informed the decision of the jury presided over by Cuban dancer and choreographer Johannes Garcia, who won the same award in 2020.
In her prosperous artistic career, Alonso stands out for her work as a professor at Cuba s Higher Institute of Arts and president of the Dance Association for the Americas.

Havana, Feb 23 (Prensa Latina) The National Bank of Cuba pays tribute on Tuesday to the prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, with the production of a series of commemorative coins, which will have numismatic purposes. The tribute honors the work of the country s most universal dancer, who would have been 100 years old on December 21, and consists of the engraving of the ballerina s image on the obverse of each coin.
According to Resolution 188/2020, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba on January 14, 2021, the back of the coins will bear Cuba s shield.

Havana, Dec 20 (Prensa Latina) The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) celebrates on Sunday the centennial of Alicia Alonso s birth with a tribute gala in which the BNC will share the scene with other great Cuban dance companies.
The event, to be held at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso, will begin with excerpts from Giselle s second act and will continue with scenes from another classic, Carmen, choreographed by Alberto Alonso.
The season s novelty will be given by the world premiere of Unto The End, We Meet, choreography by the US Kyle Abraham, who traveled especially to Havana to mount it on music by Arvo Pärt.
