Starbucks joins US dairy Net Zero initiative The Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy has announced Starbucks’ intent to support the Net Zero Initiative (NZI), a partnership of the US dairy community seeking to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions, optimize water usage and improve water quality on farms.
Starbucks intended commitment will advance effective environmental and economically viable practices and technologies in feed production, manure handling, cow care and on-farm energy efficiency for farms in their supply chain and beyond.
Starbucks has formalized its 2030 environmental goals to cut its carbon, water, and waste footprints by half.
“Our Planet Positive initiatives have a central role in our long-term business strategy, and directly address what our customers are asking for,” said Kevin Johnson, Starbucks chief executive officer.

U.S. Trade Rep Robert Lighthizer will initiate official consultations with Canada to examine the administration of its Tariff Rate Quota obligations for dairy.
The two U.S. dairy organizations have long raised an alarm about the need to ensure the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement is fully-enforced due to Canada’s history of undermining trade agreements. Senate Finance Committee Chair Chuck Grassley and Banking Committee Chair Mike Crapo both say the Trump Administration is taking the right step for American dairy producers and farmers.
