Nishant Kashikar For the last six years, the number of Indians visiting Australia has been growing in double digits, says Nishant Kashikar, country manager, India and Gulf, Tourism Australia. In 2020, the country was all set to welcome the highest number of Indian visitors ever seen in a calendar year, thanks to it hosting two World Cups (Men’s and Women’s T20), in addition to India’s tour of Australia.   Cut to the Covid-19 pandemic; Australia closed its borders, bringing tourism to its knees. Since then, the ICC T20 World Cup has been pushed to 2022, and while the India tour of Australia did carry on as planned, Indian fans couldn’t travel to watch it live. 

Morgan Park scores big with $2m funding boost

Premium Content Subscriber only The Warwick drag strip is set to undergo significant upgrades, following the announcement of close to $2 million in funding It is one of 12 projects announced by the Australian and Queensland governments, to support local economic recovery in parts of Queensland that were hit hard by the 2019-20 bushfires. Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said it would be a great boost for the community. “This $1.9 million investment will upgrade the existing 1/8 mile drag strip at Morgan Park to a national standard 1/4 mile facility, which will attract larger and more regular race meets to the region,” he said.
