A health response plan for natural disasters and climate change

Vanuatu now has a plan to guide the Ministry of Health (MoH) to prepare, respond and recover from natural disasters such as cyclones, volcanoes earthquakes and climate change impacts.
The National Health Plan for Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation 2021-2025 was launched by the Minister of Health, Silas Bule, in the presence of stakeholders yesterday.
The plan will ensure that the MoH can successfully address immediate and longer-term disaster management challenges face by communities and the country as a whole, said Minister Bule.
”It will support the health and wellbeing of the people of Vanuatu through minimal disruption of the delivery of quality essential health services during and in the aftermath of natural disasters.

28,000 face masks are being distributed to communities throughout Fiji through the combined efforts of Rotary Clubs in New Zealand and Fiji.
The Club says the face masks were donated to a Rotary District in New Zealand by air filter company, Lanaco and were shipped to Fiji through the financial support of the Rotary Club of Awapuni in New Zealand, and three Rotary Clubs in Fiji.

Digicel today presented 10,000 surgical masks and thermal temperature guns to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) in support of the community outreach program by NDMO in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
In a statement Farid Mohammed, Digicel Fiji CEO, said; “We are All In for supporting communities and are fully committed to providing support and assistance to those most vulnerable to the spread of COVID-19. We want to provide as much support as we can to help contain and stop the spread of this virus.”
