LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said Thursday the bureau has been striving to ensure implementation of rule of law.
The chairman said it has been among top priorities of the NAB to ensure compensation for looted money of all affectees, adding that the NAB itself doesn’t believe in projection of any act.
He expressed these views during his address after distributing cheques worth Rs 760 million among 3,000 affectees of the Model Housing Enclave Project and the Ferozpur Housing Society at the NAB Lahore office.

NAB chief asks regional offices to improve efficiency

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal directed the regional bureaus for effective oversight to improving the standard and quality of complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations, so that references were filed on the basis of solid evidence.
NAB Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal chaired a meeting to review the performance of the organisation at its headquarters to review the overall performance, especially under trial cases in accountability courts. It was also attended by NAB Deputy Chairman Hussain Asghar, Prosecutor General Accountability Syed Asghar Haider, Director General Operations Zahir Shah, and DGs of regional bureaus.

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal Sunday vowed to take the ongoing flour and sugar scam investigations to logical conclusion as per law.
In a statement issued here, he said in Modarba case, the innocent and gullible people were deprived of their lifelong savings in the name of Islamic investment. The people were befooled and looted on persuasion of getting heavy returns on their invested money, he added.
He said in the Mufti Ehsan case, the court awarded 10 years imprisonment and Rs10 billion fine as the NAB prosecutors presented a strong case before the court.

LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal Friday informed the Lahore High Court that he had not committed contempt of court as inquiries against Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar and his brother Provincial Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht into allegations of amassing assets beyond know sources of income were underway and would be completed soon.
In a reply submitted in response to a contempt petition filed by Ahsan Abid Advocate, the NAB chairman said the bureau was working independently and impartially and the minister brothers were not exerting political pressure. He pleaded the court to dismiss the contempt petition with heavy costs.
