Butte to join in on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

BUTTE, Mont. – The 20th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 24, is a biannual event to rid homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. In Butte, the Butte-Silver Bow law enforcement will collect unused prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Butte Plaza Mall. In addition to DEA’s National Drug Take Back Day on April 24, prescription drugs can be disposed of any day throughout the year at any of the 11,000 authorized collectors. This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue as medicines that languish in homes are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.

The service is free and anonymous with no questions asked.

Public Safety in Cedar Falls holding drug take back area April 24th. We do want to remind citizens that the prescription drug return receptacle is always available at the front entrance of the Public Safety building, accessible 24 hours a day, year-round. However, the purpose of Take Back Day is to grow awareness and increase its use by the public. Cedar Falls Lt. Kari Rea The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Public Safety building (4600 South Main Street) where expired, unwanted or unused prescription drugs can be disposed. The containers is placed just inside the front doors of the building.
