SAGE to hold emergency meeting today over Indian Covid variant concerns in UK
The Scientific Advisory for Emergencies (SAGE) will reportedly meet today to discuss the spread of the Covid strain, which has been attributed to a deadly spike in cases in India.

Coronavirus cases in Glasgow are being monitored very closely after a spike in the number of people testing positive over the last six days. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon admitted there was a level of concern about the number of new cases linked to the Indian variant which has spread across parts of Europe.

In Scotland, our government has a female majority cabinet with a female First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, and Cabinet Secretaries for: Health Jeane Freeman; Finance Kate Forbes; Economy Fiona Hyslop; Environment Roseanna Cunningham; Communities Aileen Campbell and Social Security Shirley-Anne Somerville.
In the economy, great progress is being made to improve female participation in the labour market and representation on boards.
