VNA/VNS Photo HÀ NỘI An 81-year-old man suffering from COVID-19 in Thuận Thành District of the northern province of Bắc Ninh has died, making him Việt Nam s 46th COVID-19 related death. He died on Wednesday evening at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases’ branch in Hà Nội’s Đông Anh District. The cause of death was noted as septic shock, pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection, complications of progressive respiratory failure and sepsis in an elderly patient.

This is the first time the Ministry of Health has issued a midday report (in addition to the 6am and 6pm reports) since the pandemic began earlier last year, amid growing domestic outbreaks. The transmissions were detected in Hà Nội (21), Bắc Giang (7), Hoà Bình (1), Đà Nẵng (1) and Hải Dương (1). In Hà Nội, 12 of the cases are from the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, which is currently under lockdown.

Authorities in Vietnam s Thai Binh Province have enforced social distancing rules in all of its districts since 12:00 pm on Thursday after local health officials confirmed five cases of coronavirus infection in the community within just a few hours.
The Thai Binh Party Committee convened an urgent meeting on Thursday to address the current COVID-19 situation.
All five cases can be linked to an infection cluster at the Dong Anh District branch of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, a central-level facility that treats COVID-19 patients in Hanoi.

The 28-year-old woman, whose name was given as N.T.K.A, residing at the Garden Hill apartment building, No.99 Tran Binh Street, Nam Tu Liem District, reportedly came into contact with Patient No. 1,722 (connected to the outbreak at a military-run factory in Hanoi, confirmed positive on January 30) on January 26 at the gate of the building.
