Obstetricians at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi last week successfully delivered a baby through a caesarean section performed on a woman with COVID-19, who had previously suffered infertility for 11 years.
L.T.Q., 33, underwent the caesarean section, giving birth to a girl weighing 2.6 kilograms, the hospital told
Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Saturday.
Hailing from northern Dien Bien Province, Q. was admitted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on May 19 at her 35th week of pregnancy after her test results returned positive for the coronavirus on May 14.
An 89-year-old female COVID-19 patient has died due to her underlying conditions, announced the sub-committee for treatment under the National Steering Board on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on May 15.

Authorities in Vietnam s Thai Binh Province have enforced social distancing rules in all of its districts since 12:00 pm on Thursday after local health officials confirmed five cases of coronavirus infection in the community within just a few hours.
The Thai Binh Party Committee convened an urgent meeting on Thursday to address the current COVID-19 situation.
All five cases can be linked to an infection cluster at the Dong Anh District branch of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, a central-level facility that treats COVID-19 patients in Hanoi.

Hospital, also known as
K Hospital, in Hanoi were put under lockdown from
5:30am on May 7, after 10
COVID-19 infections were recorded in the hospital’s
Tan Trieu facility.
On May 6 evening, the capital city’s Centre for Disease
Control (CDC) also reported additional three cases, including two in Thuong Tin
district and one in Dong Anh district.
The case in Dong Anh is related to the outbreak in the
National Hospital for Tropical Diseases No.2, which was earlier put under
lockdown on May 5.

Vinh Phuc (VNA) – The northern province of
locally-transmitted cases of COVID-19 and two imported cases by 4pm
May 6, according to the provincial steering committee for
COVID-19 prevention
and control.
Competent agencies have collected samples of 7,753 people for
testing so far, and 8,191 people have been put into quarantine.
They are also tracing people who had sought medical treatment at or
visited the Kim Chung facility of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases
in Hanoi, where a cluster of infections have been detected.
