Green activists along with tree lovers from Tricity Saturday gathered in solidarity with 700 trees to be felled for the construction of a flyover on Dakshin Marg raising slogans of “Don’t Kill Only 700” .
Over 75 activists, including students, retired bureaucrats, social activists and environmentalists, gathered holding banners of saving trees at Sector 29 roundabout. The activists did not call the event a protest against the UT Administration but stressed it was an awareness event urging the officers, who prepared the plan of flyover

The resignation of a key Rahul Gandhi aide spoiled the optics for the Congress on a day it attempted to mend an internal rift with a meeting between Sonia Gandhi and dissenters who had written a letter criticizing the leadership and calling for an overhaul of the organization.
Ruchi Gupta was the joint secretary heading the NSUI or National Students Union of India. According to reports, she said in a WhatsApp message that continuing delays in bringing about long overdue organizational changes were damaging the party.

New Delhi, Dec 18 : The National Students Union of India (NSUI) on Friday tendered full-fledged support to students demanding for postponement of the second cycle of Company Secretary (CS) examinations, which are scheduled to begin from December 21. The NSUI in a statement said that students all across the country are demanding that the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) reconsider its decision or students will have to wait for another six months to appear for exams.
NSUI General Secretary Nagesh Kariyappa said that the way ICSI is handling the exam management, the safety of students has become an even bigger question.
A day after the Jamia Milia Islamia University announced to conduct the semester examination via online mode from December 21 onwards, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) has demanded the varsity to relook into its decision as many .
