By: Times News Service Muscat: The number of residential plots granted across the Sultanate has reduced by more than 85 per cent till the end of March 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said: The number of residential plots granted in the Sultanate decreased by the end of March 2021, to reach 1,006, compared to 7,491 plots of land in the same period of the previous year, with a decrease of 86.6 per cent. Fruit and vegetable prices down in Oman Between March 2021 and March 2020, prices of vegetables in Oman decreased by 11.6 per cent. Fruit prices went down 2.95 per cent YoY, according to data from by National Centre for Statistics and Information. However, the costs of other goods listed on the consumer price index rose slightly. Small increase was reported in the amount customers have to pay for bread and cereals (1.07 per cent), meat (0.91 per cent), and oils and fats (1.85 per cent). “The shipping expenses for tomatoes from Europe, for example, are higher than the ones from, say, Jordan, and of course, if you buy them locally, then they are often the cheapest,” one retail manager told timesofoman.com.
