The Ankeny Board of Education called the hiring historic in a news release Tuesday.
Pruitt is currently the deputy chief of high schools for Chicago Public Schools, where, according to the release, he leads strategic planning and budgeting for 96 high schools. He has more than 20 years of teaching and administration experience in Chicago and Houston, Texas. (Pruitt s) experience as an academic leader in some of the largest districts in the nation will position him well to lead the next chapter of Ankeny s long history of success, Ankeny school board president Aaron Johnson said in the release.
Pruitt received his doctorate in educational leadership from National-Louis University in Chicago; a master s in education administration and supervision from Loyola University; and a bachelor s degree in elementary education from Purdue University.

Former McDonald’s CEO Don Thompson and wife Elizabeth launched The Cleveland Avenue Foundation for Education to support diversity in teaching, and economic mobility in the Black community.
