Published February 11, 2021, 12:33 PM ILOILO CITY – The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) has ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to stop the construction of a façade at the premises of a heritage church in Anini-y, Antique. Construction of a separate structure is seen outside the Anini-y Church in Antique province. (Marie Joy Rosal/ MANILA BULLETIN) Dr. Rene Escalante, chairman of the NHCP, has issued a cease-and-desist order to the DPWH Antique District Engineering Office to stop any activities at the premises of the Anini-y Church. “This is desecrating the spacious and magnificent façade of the church,” Escalante told Engr. Joselito Antonio of DPWH-Antique in a Feb. 9, 2021 letter.
