PETERSBURG The freezing rain and sleet continue to fall across the area, and will do so for most of the rest of Thursday. Therefore, the Virginia Department of Transportation has one word of advice if you are thinking of going somewhere soon.
Don t. Conditions are changing rapidly in the #RVA district, with sleet covered roads in some areas, VDOT tweeted late Thursday morning. Drivers should continue to #StayHome, but if travel is essential please SLOW DOWN [sic] and leave more time to reach destinations.

Later today, a new state website is expected to go live giving Virginians one central place to register for the COVID-19 vaccine. Local health departments closed their online registration forms last Friday to prepare for the new statewide system. Over one million Virginians have received the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Virginia Department of Health. About 340,000 people are fully vaccinated, which is nearly 12% of the state’s population.
